OKLAHOMA CITY -

It’s a Pokémon world out there.

A new game is the latest craze. Pokémon GO uses the GPS on smartphones to send gamers off the couch and on a scavenger hunt in the real world.

People can catch their '90s-favorite Pokémon in the real world.

Bricktown is flooded with players.

David Manwarin and his wife drove from Shawnee to Oklahoma City to see what rare Pokémon they could find.

“We were out until 2:00 in the morning one night chasing Pokémon,” said Manwarin.

“My step counter is up a ton since I got the game,” said Edmond resident Madeline Smith.

Edmond Police Department’s Sgt. James Hamm said multiple people have called the police reporting “suspicious people." Calls came in from local businesses and residents.

“When officers got out to these calls, they realized it was people playing the new Pokémon game,” said Hamm.

Near St. Louis, the game was used to stage a robbery and lure in victims. There are reports of gamers trespassing on private properties. Some people have admitted to playing the game while driving.

Hamm is asking people to pay attention to their surroundings and think about where you are going at what time.

Many residents said they are aware of the dangers and being cautious, finding a designated Pokémon driver while they search for Poké-stops and gyms. They’re enjoying a game that relives childhood memories.
