Family Planning Vigil For Missing Moore Mother

Nearly four weeks since the disappearance of a Moore mother, police say they still have no leads. On Friday, July 1, friends and family will gather for a vigil at the woman's home the last place she may have been.

Cynthia Garcia was last seen Thursday, June 2, leaving work. Weeks have gone by, but still no breaks in the case that would lead investigators to the young mother.

Garcia left work Thursday, June 2, around 4:45 in the afternoon and seems to have vanished.

Cynthia's mother spoke with her later that night. The two talked about many things including Cynthia picking up her 7-year-old daughter the next day from her soon to be ex-husband.

Two days later, fear sunk in when her mother got a call from her son-in-law.

“Sophia dad called my son and ask for her. What's wrong with Cynthia? Why don't she come to pick up Sophia? [sic],” said Olga Cardenas, Cynthia’s mother.

Cynthia's car was found in the garage, but she was nowhere to be found.

Days after her disappearance, Moore Police received several tips about sightings, but they only led investigators to dead ends.

“She does have a daughter and family says she's very close it's very unlike her to stay away from her daughter so that's concerning,” said Sgt. Jeremy Lewis, Moore Police.

Investigators have interviewed numerous people, including Cynthia’s coworkers at the FAA and family members.

The family has now turned to a private investigator as they search for answers, still holding out hope that Cynthia will be found alive.

“I believe because she's a very strong woman. She, I know she never left Sophia, her job and her house for no reason. But I believe she is still alive,” said Cardenas.

The vigil for Cynthia will be at 8 p.m. Friday, July 1, night at her home.
