At least eight people were stuck Wednesday afternoon on a Frontier City roller coaster ride, authorities said.

Emergency crews worked to free the riders from on top of the Silver Bullet.

The ride stalled out shortly before 4:30 p.m. Wednesday when the roller coaster did not have enough momentum to get over the hill.

Power to the roller coaster was shut down and the cars were secured by a chain to the track. Firefighters helped walk each person down the catwalk, an Oklahoma City Fire Department spokesman said.

Frontier City released a statement after the roller coaster malfunction:

"Guest safety is Frontier City's top priority. As soon as each guest has been evacuated from the Silver Bullet, a thorough investigation into the reason the ride stalled will take place."

This is the third time in ten years the roller coaster has gotten stuck with passengers on board. These incidents happened in 2008 and in 2014.

Fortunately, no one was injured in any of the three incidents.
