The popular Tipsy Tow service is once again being provided by AAA Oklahoma for the Independence Day holiday period.

Services will run from 6 p.m. Friday, July 1 until 4 a.m. Tuesday, July 5 in metro Tulsa, metro Oklahoma City, Ardmore, Tahlequah, Enid, Lawton, Muskogee, Shawnee and Bartlesville.

AAA Oklahoma offers Tipsy Tow as a community service annually on Super Bowl Sunday and over St. Patrick’s Day, Memorial Day, the Fourth of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s.

AAA developed the Tipsy Tow program to offer drivers who have been drinking an alternative to getting behind the wheel and endangering themselves and others on the road. Over the holidays, up to 40 percent of all fatal crashes involve alcohol.

“If you feel unsafe behind the wheel after drinking at a holiday party or get-together, AAA Oklahoma will come get you and your vehicle and we’ll give both a free, safe ride home,” said Chuck Mai, spokesman for AAA Oklahoma.

The service is offered free, no questions asked, to both AAA members and non-members alike. AAA will give you, up to one more person and your car a ride home, within a 15-mile radius from the point of pick-up, anytime, day or night, during the four-and-a-half-day period.

To access AAA’s Tipsy Tow service, call 1-800-222-4357 (AAA-HELP) and ask for Tipsy Tow.
