After only a few hours in jail, the driver connected to a Memorial Day weekend hit-and-run crash on Highway 62, bonded out of Monday night.

Investigators were able to track down Aarick Caldwell, who went from the booking area of the jail to a closed circuit TV to face a judge.

Muskogee County District Attorney Orvil Loge said Caldwell was charged with two counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and one count of leaving the scene of an injury accident.

Police said Caldwell, a Fort Gibson resident, owns the truck that ran two teenagers off Highway 62 in May. Video shows the truck inching close to a Nissan sports car, in the left-hand lane, ram it, and send it crashing into the right lane guard rail.

The teens inside the Nissan, Noah Wilson and Gracie Bottger, said they were passing the car in the slow lane when the truck came up behind them.

“We were like ‘what is he doing? Why is he so close,’” Bottger said. “We were really lucky.”

Some people in another car pulled out their cell phones and recorded the incident. After that witness video aired and started circulating, tips started coming in and officers were able to identify the truck.

Loge said, "Every pickup that came in was excluded, except for Mr. Caldwell. And all the evidence that was obtained, received, collected, points to Mr. Caldwell."

Police are still looking for the pickup.

“It kept going back to Mr. Caldwell. The investigation, the investigators did a wonderful job collecting it, bringing it to my office," Loge said.

Caldwell's next court date is July 12.
