We were all horrified by what happened in the Orlando night club when Omar Mateen shot up the place and killed 49 people, and we all want to find a way to keep it from ever happening again.

Can you do it by blocking gun sales to people who are on the terror watchlist or no-fly list?

That's what Congress is debating.

In theory it sounds good, but it wouldn't have stopped Mateen or the San Bernardino shooters for that matter. They weren't on those lists.

And the experts will tell you, even the ACLU, that those lists are rife with problems.

In fact, the ACLU's official statement is that they have deep concerns "about the legislative efforts to regulate the use of guns by relying on our nation's error prone and unfair watchlisting system."

Our Constitution says you can't take away a person's right to bear arms without due process, meaning you can't deny them that right on a hunch that they might turn into a terrorist.

It's time to define clear measurable criteria for who we put on these watch lists, and yes delay them from getting guns especially assault weapons until we can thoroughly check them out.

And one last thing, I  also think it's important to note that these mass shootings have been occurring in "gun free zones", like clubs, office buildings where private citizens even with permits who've had training are not allowed to carry their firearms and fight back, we need to re-examine these soft targets.

I'm Kelly Ogle and that's My 2 Cents.
