Hidden Camera Captures Burglars Rummage Through Edmond Store

Police are searching for those responsible for a burglary at Thrifty Chic Furniture Consignment near the corner of Edmond Road and Kelly Avenue.

It happened at some point overnight on June 13.

The owner, Harold Smith, said he has been in the furniture and carpet business for years and takes a lot of pride in his place.

So when he came to work last week after his store was broken into and ransacked, he was just as upset as he was confused.

“It makes me angry,” he said.

As he gave News 9 a tour of the areas impacted by the burglars, he shrugged at why the they looked through the refrigerator and the tools in the back room.

But there was a small amount of comfort in the clarity of what his hidden camera recorded.

It caught the alleged criminals tip-toeing into the office area, looking in the same drawer several times, seemingly frustrated.

“Where’s the jewelry at?” one man in the video repeatedly asked aloud.

But the three men seen on camera were apparently comfortable, at times shouting to each other across the store.

At one point, one man opened a sucker to eat before having a casual conversation about what they’d found.

“Did you all find anything else?” one asked.

“Yeah, we found another gun.”

Smith said that gun was a .22 rifle that was only good for parts. But he said the cash you see them in the video counting was more than $250. Smith said they also stole an empty safe from the back room.

All three of them were clearly without a clue they were on camera.
