Oklahoma City Animal Welfare officials report a drastic drop in online donations in 2016 compared to last year.

Julie Bank with animal welfare said Tuesday funds are down by more than 50 percent and the shelter could use about $15,000 to make up the difference.

The loss in donations was reported in the general fund and the "angel fund" this year.

“Your donations go directly to save lives of homeless animals in our care,” an animal welfare representative wrote on Facebook. “They fix animals that need special surgery, they provide supplies to animals in foster care, they provide basic needs to homeless animals.”
