OU Football: Board of Regents Approves Raises For Bob Stoops & Coordinators

A few months after orchestrating a run to the College Football Playoff, the Oklahoma football coaches are reaping the benefits of the product they helped put on the field. The OU Board of Regents approved raises and extensions for head coach Bob Stoops, offensive coordinator Lincoln Riley and defensive coordinator Mike Stoops. 

Bob Stoops will be making $25,000 more annually in 2017 and 2019 while his contract was extended until 2021. Both coordinators saw their contracts extended until 2018 and Mike Stoops will see a $50,000 raise to make his salary $900,000 a year while Riley's $400,000 dollar raise nearly matched the $500,000 he made in his first year calling plays for the Sooners.

Riley was the 2015 Broyles Award winner as the best assistant coach in the nation, and apparently Oklahoma knows just how valuable he is to the Sooners' success on the gridiron. 

Along with the football coaches, Lon Kruger will receive $50,000 more a year and an extension through 2021 after leading the OU basketball team to the Final Four, while softball coach Patty Gasso received the same extension to go along with a $5,000 annual raise after winning her third National Championship in 2016.
