Amy Slanchik

Amy Slanchik is passionate about storytelling. She joined the News 9 team in May of 2016 after spending almost two years in Fort Smith, Ark. She is a proud University of Oklahoma graduate and is thrilled to be back in the Sooner State. Originally from Wisconsin, she considers herself to be an “adopted Okie.” While earning her bachelor’s degree in journalism, she was able to work across the country in several different newsrooms. Amy interned in Washington, D.C. three times, and for News 9 while in school. After graduation, she moved to Phoenix, Ariz., for an investigative journalism summer program called News 21 at Arizona State University.

Her first job in TV was at the CBS affiliate in Fort Smith, working mostly as a multimedia journalist, shooting, writing and editing her own stories. While there, she reported on everything from a machete murder trial, to the story of a 16-year-old girl who was born deaf but was chosen to play her violin at Carnegie Hall in New York City.

If you have a story idea, or just want to say hello, email Amy.
