A family near Purcell is desperate to find an old pickup that was stolen Friday.
“I've have things taken from me and I've felt violated ... but this was so much more,” said Jeannine Morris about the theft Friday off Basingstoke Drive in McClain County.
The pickup taken was a 1959 Chevy Apache that used to belonged to Jim Seabourn.
Seabourn was killed after being hit by a motorcycle in 1981.
“We lost our brother when he was 19. When someone dies that young, you do anything you can hold on to. We had that truck,” said Janelle Hammonds, Seabourn’s younger sister.
The black pickup with a silver top was parked at 1748 Basingstoke Drive for a couple years and didn’t even run.
The family was in the process of getting the pickup fixed when thieves made off with the vehicle and a flatbed trailer nearby on Friday.
“Someone has it and it means nothing to them but a ’59 pickup,” said Hammonds. “I don't care to punish the person. I just want the truck back."
If you have any information about the pickup’s whereabouts, you are asked to call the McClain County Sheriff Office at (405) 527-2141.
