Oklahoma Brewers are toasting a change in higher strength beer after Gov. Mary Fallin signed it into law.

Starting at the end of August, craft breweries will be able to the sell what they make on site from their tap rooms.

Right now, state law limits craft brewers to selling 3.2 percent beer and only providing full-strength beer on location in 12 ounces, but after August 25 consumers will be able to buy and take home full-strength beer in cans, bottles, growlers, and kegs.

“You can’t get any closer to the beer,” said Bruce Sanchez, who is opening the “Twisted Spike” brewery near Broadway and NW 10th in August.

“Twisted Spike” will also feature a railway themed tap room. Sanchez says finishing the tap room has become a major priority due to the new tap room law.

“The big ticket items were differed so we could get the brewery going. Now it’s like you need to spend some money, “said Sanchez.
