WCWS: Auburn's Walk-Off Grand Slam Forces Decisive Game 3 For Title

With their hard-fought season on the line, Auburn's Emily Carosone made sure her team got to stick around in Oklahoma City for one more fight. In the bottom of the eighth with the score tied at 7-7, Carosone cranked a no-doubter over the right center wall to give the Tigers the walk off win over Oklahoma, which forces a decisive Game 3 for the National Championship on Wednesday. 

It looked like the Sooners would run away with their third national title after OU went up 7-0 after the top half of the second inning. Oklahoma's offense appeared to be thriving, with Kady Self starting the party by drilling a two-run homer, which was followed by an Auburn error and a couple of successful bunts by Kelsey Arnold and Shay Knighten that quickly made the score 5-0. Both Sydney Romero and Nicole Pendley followed that with RBI singles that put the Sooners ahead by a commanding margin. 

But Auburn was ready with a response, and more. 

Whitney Jordan soared a three-run shot over the left field wall with two outs, and then the Tigers notched another run on a triple minutes later. As if the four-run surge wasn't enough, the Tigers added another score with a single to right field. Eventually the Sooners got out of the inning, but Auburn wasn't done making plays. 

Kasey Cooper smacked a two-run homer over the right field wall to tie the game in the bottom of the fourth, which quieted the crowd filled with mostly Sooner fans. 

Despite surrendering a huge lead, Oklahoma still had its chances. 

With the score still tied in the top of the sixth, OU's Shay Knighten appeared to continue her hot streak with a homer over the left field wall, but Auburn's Tiffany Howard had other plans. The Senior made the leap for the ball at the wall, and was able to come down with the terrific catch to end the inning and keep the score tied. 

It was a huge play, but the best was yet to come for the Tigers. 

With the bases loaded in the bottom of the eighth inning, Carosone kept Auburn's season alive with the biggest homer of her career to give the Tigers an 11-7 win. OU's 31-game win streak comes to an end in the biggest blown lead in Women's College World Series history.

Game 3 of the Championship Series is set for Wednesday at 6 p.m.
