Infant Boy Dies After Car Hits Cow On McCurtain County Road

A 6-week-old infant has passed away after a crash Sunday night near Valliant. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says an Idabel family was driving down County Road Pine Creek around 9:30 p.m. when the driver hit a cow and ran off the road.

Shawna Bridges and three of her children were taken to a local hospital and treated and released.

Her 6-week-old baby boy was flown to children's hospital in Dallas, and died of head injuries early Monday morning. A collision report says child restraints were in use for the two youngest children, and the mother and older children were wearing seat belts.

The cause of the crash is listed as animal in roadway.
