Superintendent Rob Neu is still getting paid while out of the office. He has not resigned and has not been suspended, according to the Oklahoma City Public School District.

But while the board continues to talk about the future of Neu's employment, they said by law, the rest is under wraps.

The school board made a brief and vague statement Thursday night after five hours of talking about Neu's employment in an executive session.

The president of the Oklahoma City teachers union Ed Allen said it went that long because this entire situation is much more complicated than people realize.

“I’m worried that there may be other issues even with him gone – that need to be addressed. That there may have been other people in our district that may be involved in some things that they shouldn’t have,” he said.

The most Allen would say about what he claims has gone on is that they are "ethical issues."

“You’re as sick as your secrets, let me say that.”

News 9’s attempts to speak with board members on Friday were unsuccessful. We also went to Neu's Oklahoma City home, but got no response.

In the meantime, Associate Superintendent Aurora Lora will step in and take on all of Neu's duties - a welcome change for the teachers union.

“Aurora has been just the opposite with us as Superintendent Neu. She’s been open, inclusive,” Allen said.

In Neu's contract, it said that his position can't be reassigned without his consent. The next school board meeting is April 25.
