The Cooperative Council of Oklahoma School Administrators surveyed more than 260 school district officials around the state about how they are cutting their budgets for the 2016 - 2017 school year and the results, as expected, were not good.

More than 100 school districts in Oklahoma are considering four-day school week or trimming the school calendar to save money. More than 1,000 school district employees could be out of work.

This likely means the number of students in a class to one teacher will likely grow as well, so those teachers who do survive a budget cut will have to do more with less.

Just last week Oklahoma City Public school announced it will eliminate $13 million dollars worth of teaching and administrative jobs. And we can expect in the next few days the district will cut another $17 million dollars to programs and other services. Since January Oklahoma schools have made $50 million dollars in cuts already. Many of those affect summer programs.
