The theft of a young disabled girl’s bike earlier this week made her mother sick, and wondering where to turn. Then, News 9 viewers stepped up to solve the problem.

Thursday and Friday, complete strangers not only replaced 11-year-old Baylee Harris’ bike, they also gave Baylee’s younger brother Blake a new bike as well.

Baylee and Blake are both physically disabled. The children’s mother Joanna has been going through financial crisis, since a crooked contractor ran off with thousand’s dollars. The Harris’ home in Norman was foreclosed on last October.

Not only have complete strangers given new bikes to the children, a retired Air Force veteran paid the family’s May rent at their South Oklahoma City apartment. And Edmond Businessman Sean Gore stopped by to replace the brakes on Joanna Harris’ car, which has been having numerous issues lately.

“It’s a blessing that the good Lord has put us in a position to help,” said Gore.

Joanna Harris said she’s very thankful for new friends.

“When you’re down and out, you lose your home, your kids’ stuff gets stolen, yeah it definitely puts you down.  But you have to have faith,” said Harris.

Baylee Harris now has a couple of new bikes, and she says she plans to give one of them to another child in need.

“Donate them to people who don’t have bikes,” Baylee smiled Friday afternoon.
