Three people were arrested Saturday after Oklahoma County deputies found 70 pounds of marijuana during a traffic stop, the Oklahoma County sheriff's office reported.

Dannie Tate, 43, Willie Lagano, 40, and Natakia Smiley, 24, were arrested on complaints of trafficking illegal drugs and proceeds from illegal drugs.

About 10:45 p.m. Saturday, a deputy pulled over a speeding vehicle at Interstate 40 near Portland Avenue.

The driver told the deputy they were driving from Las Vegas to Alabama and the deputy called for a K-9 drug dog after smelling a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle.

The dog alerted the deputy to the marijuana, prompting a search of the vehicle, the sheriff's office said.

During the search, deputies found 12 black trash bags containing 70 pounds of marijuana and confiscated $7,200 in cash.
