The U.S. Supreme Court has dismissed the state's lawsuit challenging Colorado's legalization of marijuana.

Both Oklahoma and Nebraska filed the lawsuits in December 2014, stating that Colorado's law creates “a dangerous gap in the federal drug control system."

Deciding if this case would be heard was not an easy decision to make, with Justices meeting several times behind closed doors to debate the case's merits.

Colorado argued that its "sovereignty" was being challenged. The high court sided with Colorado, but Justices Samuel Alito and Clarence Thomas both thought the case should at least be heard.

Oklahoma Attorney General Scott Pruitt decided to move forward with the lawsuit based on the Colorado marijuana being seized in the state.

On Monday, in statement, Pruitt pledged that "Oklahoma will continue to utilize every law enforcement tool available to it to ensure that the flow of illegal drugs into our state is stopped."

Before, Pruitt told News 9 the state could also chose to pursue the case in a district court, but it would take more time.
