Elderly Woman Speaks Out After Being Attacked At Lake Overholser

Here's a warning to all who like to run, walk or cycle around Lake Overholser.

A police report shows a woman was attacked there by two men while she was out on a morning walk over the weekend.

“I like to walk around the lake and take about a 10-mile hike,” said the 79-year-old woman whose name News 9 is not releasing.

The woman has been walking and running around Lake Overholser for the past 20 years without any problems. 

But that all changed this past weekend.

She was out solo on her early morning walk before the sun was even up when she noticed something suspicious along NW 10 Street and County Line Road.

“And then I noticed this black sports car kind of drive by slowly,” she said. “And then it later went by going the other direction.”

She said she kept an eye on the car but kept on walking.

Before she could get to a nearby 7-Eleven, she was tackled to the ground by two men who were in that dark car she had spotted just moments before.

“And they threw me down and kept yelling 'where's your f---ing money, where's you f---ing money,'” said the woman “I said ‘I don't have any, I don’t have any.'”

She said she tried to get away, but couldn't.

Once the two men discovered she indeed did not have any cash, they left, leaving her bruised and bleeding on the side of the road.

“I think at least two cars (drove) past but nobody even honked their horn which might have been helpful,” she said.

She managed to make it to the nearby 7-Eleven and called 911.

Police arrested 20-year-old Eddie Ibarra and 21-year-old Anthony Norris for the crime a short time later, and the sharp septuagenarian was able to identify them as being the ones who hurt her.

They are in the Oklahoma County jail accused of robbery by force and fear, and are being held without bond.

She just hopes they didn't hurt anyone else, walking around the lake she loves.

“Now, I begin to wonder if all this violence has spread west of Council Road,” she said. “That's not good.”

The 79-year-old woman said she plans to change her walking route to avoid NW 10 Street, but she still plans to keep walking.
