Crews from multiple departments are working to get a handle on a grass fire that flared up just south of Guthrie, Okla., Monday afternoon.
Firefighters out of Edmond, Guthrie and Woodcrest have been called to the scene of the blaze, located near E. Seward Rd. and S. Pine St., just east of Interstate 35.
The cause of the fire has not yet been determined. Approximately 15 acres of land has burned. Winds gusting up to 35 miles per hour was driving the fire in a northeast direction, toward a housing addition.
As of 2 p.m.Firefighters were able to get the main body of the first fire under control, but a large cedar tree that was burning sent embers about a quarter of a mile north and started a new fire.
