5 Injured In Balcony Collapse At City Rescue Mission In Downtown OKC

Five people were injured after a balcony collapsed at the City Rescue Mission in downtown Oklahoma City, Friday morning.

The City Rescue mission is located at 800 W. California Ave. 

Police say four people were on the balcony, located on the women’s side of the shelter, at the time of the collapse. One person on the ground also suffered minor injuries. 

Multiple EMSA units responded the scene. The four people on the balcony were all transported non-emergency to a local hospital. Police say the person who was on the ground was also transported non-emergency to the hospital.

The cause of the collapse has not yet been determined.

A spokesperson for the City Rescue Mission released the following statement regarding this incident:

"This morning a balcony collapsed at the Mission, and five people were injured. According to the fire department, the injuries are non-life threatening.  The fire department has stabilized the structure and characterized the collapse as an accident.  

Our thoughts and prayers are with the clients and their families, and the Mission will continue to take steps to help with any further investigation."
