Large Grass Fire Burning East Of I-35, Near NE 27th In Moore

Fire crews are having a tough time battling a grass fire that flared up in a grassy area just to the east of I-35 in Moore.

The recent rainy weather has muddied up the terrain too much so for brush pumpers to get to the blaze, located just north of the First Baptist Church on NE 27th St.

Firefighters have had to try and put the fire out manually, literally beating the fire into submission with hand tools.

The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
