Mother Of Missing Metro Teen Facing Felony Child Neglect Charges

The Oklahoma Attorney General's office filed three felony counts of child neglect against an Oklahoma City mother, who is currently in jail and has been for more than a month.

Reshawnda Laney Durham, 28, was booked into the Oklahoma County jail on Feb. 3 for a contempt of court charge over violating a deferred sentence connected to a fraud case she plead guilty to in 2011.

But she is being kept in jail while investigators at both the OKC Police Department, DHS and the Attorney General's office investigate the disappearance of her 15-year-old daughter Geanna Durham who went missing in May 2014.

Like most teenagers, Geanna was active on social media, but her last Facebook post was made on May 15 of that year. And police reports state, when those who knew her were questioned, they said, "It was like she just disappeared; one day she was here and then she was gone."

Last month, investigators searched a waste disposal facility near NE 23rd St. and Midwest Blvd. after getting a tip – and they found human remains. Search warrants reveal the remains "were later advised to be that of a young African American female."

According to a spokesperson for the ME's office, that body remains unidentified and it could be a while before a positive identification is made.

According to the newly filed court documents, Rashawnda Durham is only facing three felony counts of child neglect for now; one, for reportedly leaving her 3-year-old son alone without supervision, clothing and/or food in a filthy residence; two, for taking drugs while pregnant with twins, causing her newborn son to test positive for marijuana; and three, not knowing the whereabouts and /or having any contact with her daughter Geanna.

According to search warrants filed last week, investigators also searched a storage facility in Del City last month and took DNA samples there to see if it is connected to Durham's disappearance and the body found in the landfill.
