4.3 Magnitude Earthquake Rumbles In Major County

<p>A 4.3 magnitude earthquake rattled residents in northwestern Oklahoma, Wednesday evening. The quake was recorded around 5:30 p.m. in Major County. Its epicenter was located 19 miles northwest of the town of Fairview, or about 96 miles northwest of the Oklahoma City metro, at a depth of about two and a half miles.</p>

A 4.3 magnitude earthquake rattled residents in northwestern Oklahoma, Wednesday evening.

The quake was recorded around 5:30 p.m. in Major County.

Its epicenter was located 19 miles northwest of the town of Fairview, or about 96 miles northwest of the Oklahoma City metro, at a depth of about two and a half miles.

So far there have been no reports of damage or injuries at this time.

According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), earthquakes with magnitudes ranging from 2.5 to 3.0 are generally the smallest ones felt by humans. Damage is more likely with quakes at magnitudes of 4.0 and higher.
