OKLAHOMA CITY -

In a makeshift headquarters in Oklahoma City, state Sen. David Holt spoke passionately about U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Florida.

Right now, Rubio is sitting in third behind Donald Trump and U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, in Oklahoma, according to a recent poll by News9/SoonerPoll.

“[Rubio’s] the only one beating Hillary Clinton in the polls and he's our only hope as true republicans to defeat Donald Trump,” Holt said on Wednesday.

Trump won big in the Nevada caucus Tuesday night with more than 45 percent of the vote. Many agree he’s honed a skill for harnessing anger from voters across the board.

“We won the evangelicals. We won with young. We won with old. We won with highly educated. We won with poorly educated. I love the poorly educated," Trump said in his victory speech.

Some conservatives called Trump the presumptive nominee after the decisive win. But Holt thinks Trump has a problem.

“More than half the Republican voters do not want him to be the nominee,” Holt said.

"The Republican nomination is decided by delegates. It's over 1,200 delegates you need to have. We're nowhere near that number of people that have been filed much less being able to win them," Rubio said Wednesday morning after coming in second to the real estate mogul by more than 20 points.

Rubio did not win an early state which many think is a sign of poor momentum leading into Super Tuesday, but Holt said that deadline is in Mar. 15 when the primaries and caucuses are under winner-take-all states.

Cruz finished in third once again. But despite that, his campaign called it a "massive win" in Nevada. He returned to Texas Wednesday, which has become a must win state for Cruz.
