Congressman Steve Russell To Release 'Waste Watch' Report

Posted: Updated:

In just a few hours, Congressman Steve Russell will release his latest "Waste Watch" report. It highlights wasteful spending by the U.S. Government. We have a preview of what's included in the report.

The report includes information on what Congressman Russell considers $75 Billion "worth of waste."

Among the things listed in the report: Plans by the Department of Defense to destroy half a million tons of ammunition and explosives worth up to $16 billion. Also, the U.S. Department of Agriculture awarded $250,000 to a cheese manufacturer in Wisconsin to expand sales of meat-infused string cheese.

There was even a surprise for a gas station owner in Moore who received $100,000 for selling CNG in 2015. The reason for the owner's surprise, Congress only renewed the credit last month but made it retroactive.

Here's what Russell had to say about his "Waste Watch" report,

"In this issue we're highlighting about $75 Billion. To put it into perspective you could replace half of the united states navy fleet and put 18 planes of the newest type on each deck for what these dollar amounts are. In an environment where making cuts to meet defense budgets and we're slashing, it's a travesty," said Rep. Steve Russell, R-OK.
