Oklahoma City went up to Oakland and gave the Warriors everything they had, but the Thunder were unable to complete a hefty second half comeback and fell 116-108.

Kevin Durant totaled 40 points and 14 rebounds,  but Steph Curry’s 26 points and 10 assists proved to be more valuable as Golden State remains undefeated at home this season.

The Thunder actually began the game on a 9-to-0 run, but to the surprise of no one, the Warriors were able to erase that deficit in the blink of an eye and take a first quarter lead in no time. Eventually Golden State went on a 9-to-0 run of their own and all of the sudden had complete control of the game.

Golden State had their lead up to 20 points after another big run in the second quarter, but Durant did his part in cutting the lead to six points before halftime.

OKC could’ve easily bowed out at halftime, but they were able to slowly chip away at the Warriors lead and get within 91-83 going into the fourth quarter.

In the final frame, it was the Thunder’s three highest paid players who did their part in bringing the Thunder back in the game. Enes Kanter hit back-to-back baskets on assists from Russell Westbrook to get the Thunder within seven points, and then with 6:11 left on the clock Durant nailed a three-pointer to bring OKC within four.

Durant hit a couple more shots to match the Warriors scoring punch, but a Kanter fade away in the paint tied up the game at 104-104 with 3:35 left.

ORACLE Arena was buzzing due to the rarity of a close game inside its confines, and Steph Curry and company decided to ride that home court advantage down the stretch. Curry hit a dazzling layup and then a possession later it was Klay Thompson who nailed a three-pointer to blow the roof off the arena and basically put an end to OKC’s hopes.

Curry nailed a 17-foot jumper to ice the game completely, and send Oklahoma City home wondering how they can put a stop to the relentless scoring attack the Warriors possess. In all, Golden State ended the game on a 12-to-4 run after the Thunder tied it up.

Westbrook totaled 27 points and 12 assists but went 0-for-6 from the field in the fourth quarter.  Kanter had a tremendous offensive outing with 14 points and 15 rebounds, but Serge Ibaka was basically a no-show for most of the game. Ibaka finished with only eight points and three rebounds while failing to record a block. Steven Adams had an underrated game with 12 points and eight rebounds, while also being a force on the pick and roll throughout.

Harrison Barnes had 19 points for the Warriors, while Marreese Speights scored 15 points off the bench. Thompson totaled 18 points, but both he and Curry combined to shoot only 1-of-14 from behind the arc.

The Thunder will be back in action on Monday night when they play the struggling Suns in Phoenix.
