OSU Football: Get To Know The Cowboy Commits

Oklahoma State finished strong on National Signing Day, scoring its top two recruits in the final 24 hours. The class isn’t one of Gundy’s highest-rated; it’s actually his lowest ranked class since 2005 according to 247Sports Composite ranking. However, in terms of need, the Cowboys focused their recruiting efforts on offensive line, defensive back and running back above all else. Here’s how they did by position group.

Offensive Line

Tramonda Moore

"We were looking to add a more mature player to our offensive line and then fortunately Larry was available to us. We made a decision to go on him and quickly he decided that this is where he wanted to be. He played at Hutchinson and was very well coached by Coach [Tyler] Brock on the offensive line. So I see a guy that can come in and hopefully be able to contribute to our offensive line in one of our inside positions whether it's guard or center, very quickly."

He really loves the physical contact of the game. He runs through people. He’s a contact hitter. He’s a violent player but also has the athleticism skills to play out in space. He’s very long, and length is a great aspect. It’s probably going to get him involved in more plays then maybe we’ve had in the past at that position. It’s just a matter of time to see how quick he can play. He’s got a tremendous frame, so he’s going to get stronger. He’s a very intellectual player. He knows defensive schemes. He’s very familiar with our terminology already.”

“Amen grew up in Houston and moved to Canada so he kind of got off the radar in the United States, which was good for us. Watching his junior tape, I was intrigued by the space they had to cover in Canada. Then when we got him to camp last summer, I was impressed with how his body is changing. He’s probably in the 215 range. He’s going to fill out and get stronger. He’s another one who tackles well. He doesn’t miss a lot of tackles. He has a grasp of defensive schemes. He’s very instinctive. I think he’s a rare find.”

“Devin is someone we saw out at camp. He’s a raw athlete. We worked with him at camp, mostly out of the safety position. He’s played so many positions at his high school, from running back to defensive end, safety. So he’s a good athlete. He’s a natural competitor. He’s a basketball player. I think the sky is the limit as far as what his body is going to do over the next couple of years. On his official visit, we had him at 230 pounds. So we will have to wait and see once he starts competing where he fits in on our side of the ball.”

“Keondre Wudtee is a tall, long, very athletic quarterback who can run. He has good straightaway speed. He has tremendous sense of direction for as tall as he is. As big of a frame as he has, he never takes a (big hit) and he does a great job of making people miss with his change of direction. He’s able to create. He can scramble, he can run from his own read, he can run from the power read. At the same time he has the ability to throw the ball vertically down the field very well. He has a good arm, and his arm will improve with time in the weight room. But it’s a good arm, he can control his throws. He seems to be pretty accurate. Again, that’s something he can improve on but his release is quick. He gets it out real well. He is just really hard to defend. In a spread offense, he will be very dynamic. We could run or throw. He’s a dual-threat guy but he has the ability to throw the ball down the field.”

"One of the things that I like about Dillon is that he plays on both sides of the football, I think he was state player of the year and he is a four-time state champion with Jenks (Okla.), so he's got winning in his blood. He also runs the 400 meters, and he won state in the 400 last year, so he's got great endurance, which is what we need from our receivers, to be able to go all day. When we were recruiting him that was a big, big factor. He came to camp and just went off – he caught everything, ran great routes and you play it back on tape and see him playing defensive back and hitting people. He's going to be a great fit for us."
