Business burglaries are keeping investigators busy in Stillwater.

Police say there's been an increase in cases in the last month.

The most recent occurred Saturday, January 30 at Peck's Lodge Market & Mercantile near University and Knoblock.

"I'd say the guy was pretty smooth and knew what he was doing," Dan Scroggs, owner of Peck's Lodge, said after watching the surveillance video inside his store.

Scroggs said the thief entered the store through a roof hatch and proceeded to steal $10,000 worth of equipment and merchandise.

He said the thief perused the racks and looked through an entire bin of motivational posters before taking thousands, at least $8,000 in Kendra Scott Jewelry.

Although the images are fuzzy, police think the evidence left on camera could help solve the case.

"It looks like fuzzy bad video," Captain Kyle Gibbs explained. "But if you know that person they are immediately recognizable."

Investigators are hopeful that's the case in this burglary.

"It takes a village, and this is one of those cases where someone out there knows who this person is and hoping they call us," Gibbs said.

If you have any information about the burglaries, call the criminal investigation division at (405) 372-4171 or the tip line at (405) 742-8301.
