With the loss, Washington is now 0-7 all-time against the Thunder in Oklahoma City.

Russell Westbrook recorded his second consecutive triple-double (seventh overall) with 17 points, 13 rebounds and 11 assists, and he was able to do it in only three quarters. His running mate Kevin Durant was just as impactful on the outcome with 28 points and nine rebounds of his own. Tonight’s contest marked the 35th straight game Durant scored at least 20 points, which is the longest streak in the NBA.

Things couldn’t have started better for the Thunder, as they shot 68 percent from the field in the first quarter and let the Wizards know early on what type of game it was going to be. Westbrook was facilitating, the ball was moving and Durant was pouring in points.

Washington was in trouble.

OKC held a 10-point lead after one quarter, and extended that margin to 12 before intermission. The Wizards went on a small run to start the second half, but Oklahoma City put their foot back on the gas and were able to get up 16 points before the end of the third frame.

It looked like the services of both Durant and Westbrook wouldn’t be needed in the final quarter, but Donovan decided it was better safe than sorry, and checked his superstars back in once Washington shaved a few points off its deficit.

The “Thunder Buddies” did their part in the fourth quarter and OKC was able to coast to its fourth straight victory while starting the month of February off the right way.

Serge Ibaka also had a stellar game with 19 points and 10 rebounds, while Enes Kanter was a force off the bench with 14 points and five boards. Cameron Payne was able to return from a concussion injury and contribute eight points off the bench.

Bradley Beal totaled 18 points for the Wizards while John Wall and Marcin Gortat each added 17 points.

OKC will be back in action on Wednesday when they host the Magic at 7 p.m.
