Boyfriend Charged In Stabbing Attack On Metro Woman

Friday, charges were filed against the man accused of attacking a woman and leaving her for dead. That woman is still fighting to survive after she was stabbed 16 times according to her family.

“They said when she came in she was the clinical definition of being deceased she had no pulse or anything and very faint heartbeat. They feel like the cold weather is what saved her life,” said the victim’s sister.

Last Friday, she was stabbed 16 times, left fighting to survive.

Police found her boyfriend Reggie Gardner not long after she arrived at the hospital. Gardner was a few miles away at his parents’ house and admitted to officers he "changed his bloody shirt and cleaned up". Gardner told police the night began with he and the victim arguing.

“She was stabbed 16 times and her throat was slit from ear to ear,” said the victim’s sister.

The woman told her family she found an old cell phone in a backpack with no service but managed to get a call out to 911 for help.

“He has turned our world upside down. And he has my sister fighting for her life after he left her lifeless and left her to die,” she said.

Gardner is in jail, charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon which holds a maximum punishment of life in prison.
