Police in Guthrie are turning to the public for help identifying a person of interest, caught in a “selfie” image on the camera roll of a stolen cell phone.

Guthrie Police started working the case on Jan. 9. According to the report, officers were called out to the Love’s County Store because of a stolen cell phone.

The phone’s owner told police that the phone contained an app designed to combat thieves by automatically snapping a photo when the phone is turned off or put into “airplane mode”. And the app worked like a charm, taking a photo of the person of interest just before the device was shut off. That photo was stored on the device’s camera roll in the Cloud.

Now police hope someone will recognize the man captured in that photo for information about the missing phone.

If you recognize this person, you are asked to contact the Guthrie Police Department at (405) 282-3535.
