I've been around a lot of youth sports in my time, growing up and raising four kids in football, basketball, baseball, softball, golf.

And yes, I've even coached a few teams, and I know it's no fun to get your brains beat out by a better team.

But I tell young athletes this all the time, if you want to get better, play with people who are better than you are, whatever sport it may be.

That's why I have zero tolerance for a basketball league in Minnesota that's decided one team is just so good it's not fair to the other teams.

So instead of hoping the others will raise their level of play to compete, they've kicked the team out of the league for being too good.

A league rep actually sent a statement to the team saying:

"The Northwest Suburban Basketball League has decided RAYBA does not fit into the league. The main reason they made this decision is because other teams do not want to play RAYBA due to the skill level."

They're telling the other players, you don't have to improve your play, just disqualify anyone who's better.

That's a fine life lesson for young people don't you think.

I'm Kelly Ogle and that's My 2 Cents.
