An Oklahoma City woman is fighting for her life after she was stabbed 16 times and left for dead.

The woman is in the ICU at OU Medical Center in serious condition.

Since she is the victim of domestic violence, News 9 is not identifying the victim or her family.

"If a man has ever threatened your life and told you that he'll kill you or anything of that manner, believe him,” the victim’s sister said. “Seek help."

That is just what happened on Friday. A late night phone call was the beginning of a real life nightmare.

"She actually called my sister at 10:30 that same evening and said, ‘If something happens to me’ and gave my sister his name and said that he was trying to kill her. Said that he told her that he was going to kill her," she said.

Hours later, about 4:30 a.m., the victim's family got a phone call from a homicide detective.

"She was stabbed 16 times and her throat was slit from ear to ear,” she said.

Police said the 34-year-old woman was attacked by Reggie Gardner, a man she'd dated only a few months, who violently stabbed the woman and left her for dead in a field just off Bryant in northeast Oklahoma City.

"She was stabbed in her chest. She was stabbed up under her armpit. Her vein was severed,” she said. “She was stabbed in her mouth. She was stabbed in her cheek."

The attack left her with what seems like endless stab wounds from head to toe.

"She was stabbed between both of her legs. She was stabbed on her ankles with so much force that it chipped the bones in her ankles,” she said.

Before she passed out, the nearly lifeless victim managed to call 911 from an old phone she found inside her bag.

"It didn't even have service but you are still able to dial 911,” she said.

Help was on the way, but she was fading fast. Doctors told her family she was clinically dead when she got to the ER and had no pulse and just a faint heartbeat.

"We were told my sister is only alive, because it was so cold outside that hypothermia started to set in, and that hypothermia stopped some of the bleeding,” the victim’s sister said. "There is nobody but Jesus that could have been there to help my sister."

Gardner is in the Oklahoma County jail on a complaint of assault and battery with a deadly weapon.
