OKLAHOMA CITY -

Joseph Cyr, 34, is facing two counts of First-Degree Murder in the death of a Blanchard woman and her unborn child.

Both the prosecution and defense had a jury pool of about 50 men and women to choose from for this trial. They asked potential jurors questions about their past experience with the legal system, as well as their knowledge about this case.

Just before 5 p.m., a jury consisting of eight men and for women was selected.

Cyr arrived for his trial Monday morning wearing a dark suit and red tie - and looking very different than he did when he was booked back in April 2013.

Tulsa police arrested Cyr on behalf of Oklahoma County investigators after court records revealed male DNA found inside Jaymie Adams' body matched Cyr's DNA profile. Adams’ body was found in a field near lake Stanley Draper in January 2012, four weeks after she was reported missing by her family. She had been stabbed nearly 30 times.

Court records also show investigators have cell phone data that shows Cyr was in the same area as Adams the night she disappeared.

Cyr initially denied ever meeting up with Adams, but did admit he responded to one of the ads for sex she and her husband placed on Craigslist. He has denied having sex with her and killing her, but moved up to Skiatook shortly after her death.

Adams’ husband, Justin, is the one who reported her missing, and even made a tearful plea to the public for her safe return.

At one point, Justin Adams was the prime suspect in his pregnant wife's murder. He later pleaded guilty to two counts of manslaughter - stating he assisted in placing the ads for prostitution that led to the death of his wife and unborn child. Justin is expected to testify at this trial.

The jurors were even asked if they are comfortable with individuals who lead alternative lifestyles and whether that will influence their decision in this case. The trial is expected to last about a week.

If found guilty, Cyr faces up to life in prison.
