Thunder In Brooklyn To Face Nets, Battling Winter Storm Jonas

Posted: Updated:
BROOKLYN, New York -

Let’s hope the entire Thunder team remembered to bring a coat, because OKC’s favorite squad is feeling the effects of Winter Storm Jonas as they’re in Brooklyn to take on the Nets (11-33) on Sunday afternoon at 2:30. Here are a few things to know about the matchup:

No Steven Adams

Thunder big man Steven Adams sprained his elbow during shoot-around on Friday which forced him to miss the game against the Maverick’s, and will also keep him from playing on Sunday.

Nick Collison started in his place on Friday and the veteran finished with six points and 11 rebounds. The absence of Adams also means more minutes for Enes Kanter, who’s been playing very well off the bench as of late.

Look out for Brook

Brooklyn has had a rough year overall as the team is going through a transition, but center Brook Lopez is actually playing quite well. Lopez is averaging 19.5 points and 8.3 rebounds on the season, but is actually coming off of a poor performance against the Jazz on Friday where he only played 19 minutes and scored eight points.

Adams is known as OKC’s best defensive center, so it’ll be interesting to see how the Thunder try and defend Lopez without Adams at their disposal. Kanter is known for his defensive woes, so we could see extended minutes for Collison.

OKC is rolling

It’s a great day to be a Thunder fan, because the boys from the 405 are cruising as of late and are currently riding a seven-game winning streak after beating the Mavericks in Dallas on Friday night. The matchup with the Nets is the second on a four-game road trip, so we’ll see if the Thunder will be able to complete the trip (at NY, at MIN) with the streak still intact.

Steve’s weathering the weather

Thunder reporter Steve McGehee (@SteveMcGehee) wasn’t joking when he said he’d hit the road to cover the Thunder this season, and not even Winter Storm Jonas can stop him. Steve got to Brooklyn before the storm hit, and he’s been keeping us all updated throughout.
