The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says a Coweta woman lost a finger in an accident on the Muskogee Turnpike Friday morning.

Troopers said a 2005 Buick had stopped on the side of the highway near the Creek Turnpike entrance, because it had run out of gas.  The driver, 50-year-old Shannon Schulz was out of the car and holding onto driver's side open door when a semi trailer clipped it, severing her finger.

They said she was taken by ambulance to a Tulsa hospital.

The OHP says the driver of the 2012 Kenworth, Tyler Edwards, 25, of Cherryvale, Kansas told troopers he was changing lanes and did not see the car until the last second.
