EDMOND, Oklahoma -

New surveillance video shows a thief who broke into a gun range in Edmond and stole guns.

The break-in happened early Wednesday morning at Safety 1st Gun Range at Danforth and Kelly in Edmond. The owner released video from inside his store.

The burglar targeted three rifles that totaled somewhere between $3,000 and $4,000. All of them were AR-15s.

“You got to figure that they are circumventing the system for a reason,” said gun range owner Mitch Harrington.

Harrington said what bothers him the most is not the financial loss.

“My greatest concern is that someone else has access to our firearms, that's my greatest concern,” Harrington told News 9.

The 4 a.m. burglary triggered the alarms and Edmond Police responded, but the burglar was already gone.

“No ammo, they didn't really have time, they were in and out in about 19 seconds,” Harrington explained.

News 9 received surveillance from a nearby business that showed the suspect outside the gun range about five hours earlier, casing the store. He returned later and busted through the glass, which was supposed to be unbreakable.

“Went with a company that ensured us that they could put in armor, a clear armor over the glass and it would keep people from coming in,” Harrington said. “Unfortunately that's not the case,” he added.

Harrington is now adding more security on the glass and more cameras to prevent future break-ins.

“We've seen this around the metro in different gun stores and gun locations,” Harrington said. “The fact of the matter is if they try hard enough, they're going to eventually get through it, we are just going to keep putting as many barriers between our inventory and them as we possibly can,” he added.

Call Edmond Police if you can help solve the case.
