OKLAHOMA CITY -

Now is the season for home buying and selling.

Many people put their homes on the market this time of year and they often make costly mistakes in the process. We have a list of things we need to avoid when selling.

Some people want to sell their home without a real estate agent. But before you put up the "For Sale" sign, there are some things you need to think about so you don't get short changed.

First, don't price your home wrong. "Yahoo Real Estate" says most people think their home is worth more than it really is. For this, you can hire an appraiser to figure out the best price.

Next, invest in a good camera. Most buyers look at listings online these days. Real estate agents say high-quality photos often lead to more showings than bad ones.

When you do show your home, don't give a tour. Experts say most buyers would rather walk around the home alone and ask questions later.

Finally, it's important you check a person's credit before you sell.
