Sooner Signee Nancy Mulkey Named McDonald's All-American

Sherri Coale has had a successful season on the recruiting trail yet again, and that's evident with the news that Oklahoma women’s basketball signee Nancy Mulkey has been selected to participate in the 2016 McDonald’s All-American Game.

Mulkey, rated as the nation’s No. 1 center and 12th-best prospect in the 2016 class by ESPN Hoop Gurlz, is one of 24 players to earn a selection to the prestigious game. The Cypress, Texas, native will compete on the East team in the 15th annual game on March 30. The game will be televised on ESPNU at 5:30 p.m. CT from Chicago’s United Center.

In her senior season at Cypress Woods (Texas) High School, Mulkey is averaging 10.4. points and 7.8 rebounds to go along with 4.1 blocks per game.

She averaged 10.3 points, 7.1 rebounds and 3.7 blocks per game as a junior to earn all-state honors, leading Cypress Woods to its first state championship in program history.

Mulkey has also won two gold medals with USA Basketball, helping Team USA to first-place finishes at the 2013 FIBA Americas U16 Championships and the 2014 FIBA U17 World Championships.

Mulkey is the first Oklahoma signee to earn a selection to the event since Aaryn Ellenberg participated in the 2010 McDonald’s All-American Game. OU’s other 2016 signee, Chelsea Dungee, was named to the McDonald’s All-American Game nominee list.
