A trial is set to take place next week for a man accused in the death of a pregnant woman from Blanchard, Oklahoma.

Joseph Cyr, 34, of Skiatook has been at the Oklahoma County jail since he was arrested back in April 2013.

His trial has been continued several times, but a district attorney confirms so far it is on schedule to have jury selection to begin on Monday.

It was in March 2014 that Cyr made an appearance in Oklahoma County court for his preliminary hearing, to hear the state's evidence linking him to the murder of Jaymie Adams.

One of the key witnesses against him was Jaymie Adams' own husband Justin Adams, who at one time was the state's prime suspect in her murder.

Court records show both Jaymie and Justin had placed ads for sex on Craigslist, and Cyr had responded to one of those ads.

Her husband told police Cyr was the last person who had contact with Jaymie the night she went missing. That was Dec 9, 2011.

Justin and his mother reported her disappearance to police and even made a tearful plea to the public for her safe return.

Jaymie Adam's body was discovered weeks later in a field near Lake Stanley Draper. Autopsy records showed she had been stabbed close to 30 times and that she was pregnant.

Justin Adams was arrested and prosecutors charged him with two counts of first-degree murder but then reduced the charges to manslaughter a year later.

In February 2014, Justin Adams entered a guilty plea on the two reduced counts and received a 10-year suspended sentence, and credit for time already served in jail.

Though he has always professed his innocence in the murder, Justin Adams admitted to posting the sexually explicit ads for his wife on Craigslist which ultimately lead to her death and the death of their unborn baby.

Cyr denied ever meeting up with Jaymie for sex.

But according to court records, a DNA sample taken from Cyr matched the DNA sample found inside Jaymie Adams’ body.

News 9 reached out Monday to Justin Adams who did respond with this text stating, "Wish people understood I was a victim as well, not the criminal. I lost my wife and unborn child and want justice for them."

Justin Adams is expected to testify against Cyr in this trial. Cyr is being held without bond.
