The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI) is looking into the death of an inmate at the Oklahoma County Jail.

According to the OSBI, late Tuesday evening, the Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Office requested OSBI investigate a jail death inside the county lockup.

Ismael Shee Liwanag, 59, of Nicoma Park, was found unresponsive inside the cell he occupied by himself. EMSA responded to the scene and transported Liwanag to Saint Anthony Hospital where he died. His body was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for an autopsy to determine cause and manner of death.

Liwanag was arrested on June 29, 2015, for domestic assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. At the time he was arrested, he also had warrants for his arrest for violation of a suspended sentence for rape in the first degree by instrumentation, according to the OSBI.
