Midwest City police are looking for a suspect who shot a clerk during the robbery of a convenience store late Tuesday night.

According to police, just after 10 p.m., officers responded to the report of an armed robbery at Time Saver, located at Reno and Air Depot. Authorities released the surveillance footage of the robbery and shooting Wednesday afternoon.

Police learned that a male suspect walked into the store and shot the clerk once. He then took an undisclosed amount of money from the register and ran away from the scene. Now police say the assailant was targeting the store over lottery money, and did not go for the cash register.

The clerk was taken to a local hospital in critical condition where he remains.

Investigators tell News 9 the clerk lay on the ground, injured from the gunshot wound until another customer entered the store, saw what had happened, and called police.

Police hope the public can help identify the suspect from the surveillance footage.
