My 2 Cents: Take Time To Say Something Nice About Someone Else

OK, I've got to some clean on something. I'm a sucker for Hallmark Hall of Fame Network Christmas movies.

I easily watched one a day this month leading up to Christmas.

I know they're sappy, low budget, and they all follow the same formula; someone is usually named Holly, Nick and/or Chris, and they fall in love at the end after rediscovering their belief in Christmas and/or Santa.

And I know there are about five or six actors and actresses that you're guaranteed to see at least one of them in every movie.

This somewhat embarrassing admission has a point and this is it.

I was watching "A Merry Mix Up." Perhaps you saw it? Alicia Witt starred; she's been in four Christmas movies recently, but I digress.

In that movie, they sat at the dinner table and passed out several slips of paper to each person. On each piece of paper, they wrote a sentence saying something they like or appreciate about each other person at the table.

Then they were gathered, and each person was given the slips with their name on them. They read them aloud and had to guess who wrote each nice thing about them.

We did that on Christmas Eve, and it became more emotional than I expected.

If you're looking for a New Year's activity give it a try. Not a bad way to start a New Year being told the things people appreciate about you.

I'm Kelly Ogle and that's My 2 Cents.
