Norman detectives working with a drug task force found 18 pounds of cocaine after stopping a car on Interstate 35.

On Dec. 17, officers stopped the vehicle near mile marker 77 in Garvin County for a traffic violation.

During the stop, K-9 Kilo alerted on the vehicle.

Inside a hidden compartment in the vehicle’s bumper, the officer located 18 pounds of cocaine which has an estimated street value of $320,000. It is believed the drugs were being transported from Dallas to Chicago.

The detectives are assigned to the District 21 Drug Task Force.

Norberto Cruz, 46, and Claridania Acosta, 44, were arrested and booked into the Garvin County jail.

Both Cruz and Acosta were arrested on complaints of aggravated trafficking of illegal drugs and possession of drug proceeds.
