Fire crews managed to beat back a fire that was threatening homes near the Turner Turnpike, on the east side of the metro, Wednesday afternoon.

Firefighters were called out to the scene south of Arcadia Lake on the south side of I-44, between N. Midwest Blvd. and N. Post Rd., around 4:30 p.m.

The cause of the fire has not yet been determined. The fire had burned two acres of land and was burning toward homes near I-44 and Westminster, but crews acted quickly and managed to knock it down in the area before it could cause any damage.

The fire is not completely under control at this time. OHP encourage drivers in the area to take caution.
