OKLAHOMA CITY -

An Oklahoma City mother is still frightened to tears as she described the night two armed burglars broke into her home.

It happened late Sunday night near SW 36 Street and Pennsylvania Avenue.

The two men stole Christmas presents, the mother's purse and cellphone. But most importantly what they stole was the family's sense of security and Christmas spirit.

“That's a life changing experience for anybody. You can't sleep in your own home and feel safe,” the victim said.

With the holidays just around the corner, it's considered the most wonderful time of the year, but for this mother and her daughters, they will now spend this Christmas in fear.

“All of the sudden I looked over and this guy is lurking at my stairs,” she said.

Two men armed with guns came into their home and forced the family to the floor at gunpoint.

“By the time I could get anything out, he already had a gun to our head. He's screaming you know, 'who else is in the house?'" the mother said.

It's a mother's instinct to protect her children. She laid on top of her daughter while a gunman kept the gun pointed at them as another man search through the home for cash.

“I just kept hearing it; click, click, click, click, click. He's like, 'you guys are pissing me off.' Just yelling at us,” she said.

Days later, she still chokes back tears as she remembers those terrifying minutes inside her home.

“Of course, I’m like just take my purse, you know. Take whatever,” she said.

She is now scrambling to find a new home for her family.

“My daughter won’t even come back, she’s 11,” her mother said.

A new home where the family can once again feel safe.

The mother gave a brief description of the armed burglars to police. But those two men are still on the run.

Using the phone's GPS, police found the mother's phone a few blocks away from her home. It's now in the lab being checked for fingerprints and DNA.
