OKLAHOMA CITY -

Approximately 600 soldiers based at Fort Sill are heading home for the holidays. Many of them are going home for the first time since entering Basic Training.

Some soldiers we spoke to said their time at Fort Sill is their first time away from home so the trip back is a much needed break.

We met with them at the YMCA Military Welcome Center at Will Rogers World Airport. Many grabbed some refreshments and enjoyed some down time before heading to their flights around the country.

The center is staffed by volunteers and many military service organizations. We asked some of the soldiers what they’re looking forward to most about going home.
