A trip to Penn Square Mall turned violent as a woman said a man assaulted her in a fit of rage.

She said all this, because of a simple parking spot. Now, she's speaking out.

Marcia Hyde said when she confronted the man who cut in front of her and took a parking spot, he kicked her.

“I’m absolutely mortified,” Hyde said.

Hyde said she saw an opportunity to park as someone was about to leave near the south entrance of the Dillard's at Penn Square Mall.

“So, I turned on my blinker that I was going to turn into that space,” Hyde said.

But she told News 9, the man driving a gray Chevrolet pickup also had his eye on the parking spot.

“Was coming from another row and zoomed over and zoomed in that parking space,” she said.

Hyde said she was sitting, and waiting with her signal on when the man swooped in and took the spot.

“I was just taken aback, I really couldn’t believe it,” she said. “I was going to turn left into that space.”

But it didn't end there.

Hyde parked her car, got out and confronted him.

“He did this intentionally and I just felt like I needed to say something to him. 'I was sitting here waiting for that spot, you knew that,'” Hyde said she told the man. “'I had my blinker on, I can’t believe you did that.'”

What Hyde said happened next is what has her stunned the most.

“He just, without even saying anything, just kicked me as hard as he could with these big boots,” she said.

Leaving a painful bruise on her left leg.

“I had been assaulted by this complete stranger just because I was telling him I had this space,” she said.

And she said the man never said one word. Hyde called Oklahoma City police and Penn Square Mall security.

“I was not considering my safety when I spoke with him,” Hyde said.

She's glad this run in didn't turn out worse.

“I just really felt like I needed to express to him what he was doing was not right, so I will be careful,” she said.

Hyde did file a report with Oklahoma City police.

As far as News 9 knows, the man who she said took that spot is not facing any criminal complaints.
